Barfield’s Putting Competition

On Wednesday 11th September, 10 brave Probus members braved the windy conditions at Barrfields putting green, in front of the Vikingar Centre in Largs, to play in the annual putting competition. The scores were really close between the competitors with only 7 shots separating first from last.

Thanks to everyone who participated and made it a fun and competitive event.

Also to thank Graham at Go Vending for ensuring that rolls with bacon, slice sausage and potato scone were there for the members at the end, as well as some welcome hot coffee. As usual, the conversation over the breakfast rolls was wide ranging and fascinating.

The results of the competition were as follows:-

3rd place: Roy Paterson & Roddy Eunson with 51 shots

2nd place: Gerry Brown with 50 shots (also with a Hole In One!)

1st place: Norman Hollywood with 49 shots

Gerry walking nonchalantly towards his excellent first put. The hole in one was a few holes later.

Once again thanks to everyone who have made both putting competition’s a success and I look forward to seeing you all again at next year’s competition’s. Allan Little.

Apart from our regular Wednesday meetings, as a club we get involved in putting, bowls and walking, and plenty of chitchat along the way! Why not join us; putting and bowls are now finished for the season, but we still walk regularly.

If you are 50 or over, retired, or nearing retirement, (men only, I’m afraid) you can attend three meetings as a guest and find out what a relaxed and friendly time we have. That’s plenty of time to decide whether to become a Club member or not. Please check out our programme and then use our Contact Form if you wish to attend as a guest, or to enquire about joining.
