Christmas Lunch – enjoyed by all

I’ve just returned home from the Largs Probus Club Christmas lunch, held as usual at The Willowbank Hotel in Largs. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the singalong entertainment afterwards – it was a chilled out time with plenty of chat and laughter.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Homemade Soup, with the other options being: Chef’s Chicken Liver Paté with red onion marmalade, Breaded Button Mushrooms with a garlic & chilli mayonnaise and Duo of Melon Tower set atop a mango coulis.

For main course there was Prime Roast Ayrshire Turkey with chipolatas, stuffing, rich roast jus & cranberry sauce, which I think most people had, but there were also the options of Roast Beef, Fillet of Haddock or Vegetable Tempura.

There was still room for Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce, or Cheese and Biscuits or Meringue Mixed Berries Melba. And then followed by mince pie and coffee or tea.

This was followed by the DIY entertainment, with guest Fraser MacPhail providing the accompaniment. No time for a siesta, I have to say!

Our next meeting with a speaker is on the 15th January, when the talk will be on Alistair MacLean films.

New members are always welcomed at the Club. If you are 50 or over, retired, or nearing retirement, (men only, I’m afraid) you can attend three meetings as a guest and find out what a relaxed and friendly time we have. That’s plenty of time to decide whether to become a Club member or not. Please check out our programme and then use our Contact Form if you wish to attend as a guest, or to enquire about joining.
