Our Walking Group caters for those interested in experiencing the local countryside first hand. We try and meet monthly and friends are welcome to join us.
Our first walk was to the Kelburn Estate on the outskirts of Largs. We walked the Upper Estate Road have started from Largs Yacht Haven.
Ready to go. Jim Welsh, Bill Young, Phil Theaker, Ray Young, Roddy Eunson. George Newlands took the pic.

View looking North over Largs Yacht Haven
We really did stop to look at the view, not for a rest. Honest.
How this boat got up the hill, goodness knows.
On the downward path, looking forward to a cuppa and a bite to eat.
Our second walk involved a bus to the stop opposite the Clyde & Garnock Valley Crematorium, then following the forestry roads back towards Largs, crossing over the Gogo Burn near the new hydro dam, and continuing to the bridge over the Greeto at the Greeto Falls, then back to Largs.
Our third walk involved an overseas trip. Not to be outdone by the putters who played in Millport, we decided to attempt the Great Cumbrae circular walk. The weather was excellent and we all had a good day.
Waiting to board the ferry for our overseas trip. George, Roddy, Chris, Iain, Bernie, Jim. Phil was behind the camera.
At the HMS Shearwater Memorial. In the summer 1844, two young seamen sadly lost there lives here while out for a leisurely sail on a small sailing boat and got caught by an enormous wave and drowned. Their commander and crew erected this memorial in memory to the men.
At the Memorial for the Missing - For our tomorrow We gave our today. This memorial is dedicated to the men and women of the British and Allied forces who sacrificed their lives for our freedom and have no known grave.
Majestic Arran behind the southern tip of Bute.
Not everyone was walking! Oh well, it's not far to Fintry Bay
Fintry Bay Cafe. A fellow walker took this photo for us. Not, that's not one bottle of beer between us all!
The Millport Pier Hotel for lunch, not a committee meeting! Now, is it to be fish and chips, chilli con carne, or perhaps just a starter?
Replenished after an excellent break. "All the President's Men" decided to take the bus back to the ferry. Only Jim and Phil completed the round the island walk.
The walk completed, weary but delighted. Now where's the ferry?
A seat on the ferry for a few minutes, we'll soon be back on the mainland! An excellent day out and no passports needed!
Since then we have walked to the Fairey Firefly DT977 crash site on Blaeloch Hill, between Largs and Dalry, plus a number of others. All our walks are reported in the Blog.
